Diary of a Fired DJ - A Real Life Radio Unemployment Story
by Corey Deitz
10th Anniversary Web Edition
In October, 1997, I was fired from a morning job in Cleveland, Ohio. Gee, imagine getting fired in Radio, right? Well, I decided at the time to keep an online "diary" of what each day was like while unemployed. Now they call that sort of thing a "blog". But, at that time - 10 years ago - it was a pretty innovative idea to use the Internet for a daily "diary".
I chronicled my highs, lows, hopes, and fears during several months while looking for another job. It stayed online for a few years and during that time, I received a lot of positive response from people who had occasion to read it. Then for some reason I took it off the 'Net.
For the past 5 years it's been on my hard drive. I recently realized it had been 10 years since I first put it out there and I decided to once again, put "Diary of a Fired DJ" back online in a new, easy to read format.
Entries have been untouched from their original form. I hope you enjoy whatever parts you may read.
