Diary of a Fired DJ - A Real Radio Unemployment Story

Days #112 - 2/3/98

Jay and I had a call from a PD on the West Coast. A consultant recommended he take a listen to us...so I'm shooting the tape off today. Hopefully we're coming out of the doldrums and there will be more activity. It's been REALLY quiet ever since the ratings came back for the Winter book. Are all the PDs in shock?

Remember that game we came up with? "Sex, Lies & Audiotape"? It did get us some national publicity. The "Wireless Flash" fed the story to all their affiliates. A local TV station came up to do a story and fed it around the nation, I was interviewed by Charlie Van Dyke out there in Phoenix for his morning show (what a nice guy!) and my wife took a call last night from a fella' at the Gavin Report who apparently wants to do a story on the game and us. I have to call him back today.

So what am I doing in the meantime? I've decided to nurture my free-lance writing career. I'm querying some magazine publishers right now about an article idea I'm working on. Hopefully, I can $ell it! I'll let you know.
