Diary of a Fired DJ - A Real Radio Unemployment Story

Day #20 - 11/4/97 - 5:49PM

Had an interview with a PD from a Richmond station today about some part-time work. He wants to "bring me aboard" do some fill-in, relief, etc. He was pretty cool and understands my position. He knows I'm looking around for a morning gig but said he'd be pleased to have me while I'm here. I'll let you know more about this as it unravels.

Heard from Jay today. He's living the good life. You know: packing his belongings, putting his house up on the market, drinking beers. Personally, I don't know how you get the first two done if you're doing the third. Too much beer and you wind up boxing your dog and listing your house with the guy behind the counter at "Kwiki Mart".

I'm flying to Little Rock tomorrow to meet with a broadcast executive who runs a chain of TV and Radio stations. The flight leaves at 6:20 am. ARE THEY KIDDING ME OR WHAT? Why is there a flight to Arkansas so early in the morning? To make sure you get a place in line to file your sexual harassment suit against former Governor Clinton?

I'll be gone all day and I don't arrive back in Richmond until 11:30pm or something like that. Plus, I have to change planes in Dallas. My mission: refrigerator magnets for the wife and kids who started a collection this past summer.

Don't knock it.

It's the cheapest thing my wife ever wanted to collect.
