Diary of a Fired DJ - A Real Radio Unemployment Story

Day #32 - 11/16/97 - 4:24PM

"Dining a la Costco"

Today could be one of two things:

1. A manifestation of our wonderful sense of humor or....

2. A real alternative to high-priced dining-out worth further consideration

Here's what happened:.

My wife and I saw an ad in the paper for "over 30 food demonstrations" at a the local Costco where we shop. (Costco is one of those "wholesale" clubs where you buy a membership for the privilege of being able to purchase brand-name items packaged in bulk - like 90 pounds of Wheaties at-a-time. Very useful if you have a 6-year-old child who was recently invited onto Jerry Springer because he's 300 pounds.)

Anyway, she said, "Come on....you can take me out to dinner!"

So, that's exactly what we did. We drove to Costco and under the guise of shopping, took advantage of their food demonstrations and had lunch.

I feel so cheap.
