Diary of a Fired DJ - A Real Radio Unemployment Story

Day #33 - 11/17/97 - 7:32PM

I'm employed! Well, kinda...okay so it's only part-time...and I haven't actually started yet...but I will, soon!

I'm going to get some part-time hours at Lite 98 in Richmond. My first day on the air is scheduled the day after Thanksgiving...doing Morning Drive. I've got to head into the station Wednesday and spend a little time learning the board, format, etc.

It's going to be awfully weird not working with Jay across from me. Plus, it's not exactly going to be the free-rolling kind of morning show I'm used to doing. But, I'm not complaining! It'll be good to get back in a studio and feel like a broadcaster again!

Today's dribble: sent 6 tapes out (3 for advertised jobs, 3 blind packages to stations in D.C.), painted my mailbox post (antique white), got my chainsaw out and cut up some dead wood, cooked dinner (hamburgers, cheesy potatoes and green peas) and took the boys to their Boy Scout meeting.

God, I can't wait to get back to work full-time so I can relax!
