Diary of a Fired DJ - A Real Radio Unemployment Story

Day #58 - 12/11/97 - 7:50PM

Well, disappointing news: the gig at that Country station isn't gonna' happen for us because they just can't offer us a satisfactory salary. Jay and I had to thank them kindly but decline to talk any further. Shoot! And I was all ready to brush up on some of them line-dancin' steps I learned a few years ago!

Jay and I have decided to pass the time by marketing an idea we've been kicking around for a couple of years. It's CHICKEN WITH AN ATTITUDE.

Tonight, I helped my youngest son do a science project on mitosis. It's just damn amazing what you can do with some tin foil, scissors and plain sugar cookies. That's right: the round cookies represent cells. Of course, some of the cookie are splitting, which is the whole point. He's using different colored frostings to draw the little squiggly crud that lives inside the cells. It's a great concept: look at the mitosis then eat the mitosis. Ho Ho Ho.

"Hey, Santa: do you know anything about mitosis?"

"Why sure: Mitosis freezing! I should have worn wool socks!"

I think this is why I'm unemployed.
