Day #92 - 1/14/98 - 10:15pm
Interesting day. I got a call from two stations....one station is interested in just me....the other station is interested in Jay and I as a team. That's the good news. The bad news is, I want to work with Jay so the first station is out.....and secondly, the station that's interested in both of us probably can't pay squat considering the market. What's going on here....do I have a sign on my back that says, "Will Work For Food" or what...?
Got a nice email today I thought I'd share with you...
Corey:
Hang in there man... I've been where you are... I was out of work for 18 months once. I managed to string enough part-time and freelance work together to keep bread on the table.. it was tough, but it can be done. The sadly ironic thing is that all too often, when the full-time work returns, the monetary rewards are not much more than your succession of part-time gigs. But that is "radio", and we knew it when we got into the business. We don't do it for the money, we do it because we love it. And it is full of frustation, poverty and headaches and we hate it while we love it. I figure, if worse comes to worse, we DJ's would make a month of "Jerry Springer" Shows... and believe me there are some former bosses I'd like to take a swing at.
Good Luck and Keep Smiling (because the cream ALWAYS rises)
