Epilogue #1
9/13/98
Hello there! If you've spent any time reading my "diary", then I assume you related in some way to my story and you have a passing interest in what happened down the road. Otherwise, why would you be here?
It's been 5 months since I came to Little Rock and joined Equity Broadcasting. My family arrived 4 months after I did. Everyone has settled in pretty well and the transition wasn't that hard.
Interestingly enough, the Talk format Jay and I originally came here to do only lasted about a month! On June 1, it was decided to flip the station to Modern Rock and I assumed the PD role as well. All things considered, Jay and I are still more comfortable in a music format and we didn't realize it until we weren't in it!
Things are going well. We've had two trends and after 60 days the station is going up! It'll take some time to make inroads, but we're having fun and enjoying the challenge! The station website is here "Lick 101"
Epilogue #2
9/3/99
I can't even begin to tell you how weird things got since my last entry. It's been almost a year since I wrote the update above. Since then, the guy who hired us left the company and a whole bunch of promises got reneged on. Yes, we have a written agreement....but some things were still verbal. That's not to say things aren't going well. On January 1, 1999 a new General Manager for our radio division came into the company. He's proved to be an excellent anchor for our properties. He also gave Jay and I the freedom to really make our station a great one.
Oh, we changed frequencies on March 1. The new station is: "Lick 96 5.com". The first book upon he new switch was KILLER.
Jay and I also now have our own website: Coreyandjayshow.com
Oh, and one more thing: I've entered LAW SCHOOL!
Epilogue #3
6/1/02
A lot of time has passed since we were first hired. The station was moved to yet ANOTHER frequency a year after the switch to 96.5. It's now "Lick 106 3.com". Our show has done quite well, at times #1 18-34 men and 18-34 persons. We're constantly jockeying for the top position with two other shows.
Oh, first: I'm no longer in Law School. I left after the first year for personal reasons. But, I learned quite a bit. A lot of bullshit has gone down in the four-plus years we've been here. We have now entered our fifth and final year of our contract and I'm not sure what will happen when it's done. Some bad blood has gone down between us and management. I don't have the strength to get into it, but from our point of view, all we've done is work hard and do our job. Suffice to say, some folks just have a hard time living with their commitments!
Epilogue #4
12/24/07
On the day before Thanksgiving in 2002, Jay and I were taken off-the-air at Lick 106.com. The station had been sold to another company which did not want to continue paying us the salary we were making. Ironically, we were #1 in our target demo! It's quite a story and you can read about it in my book, The Cash Cage .
