British Aristocrat, Robert Mercer-Nairne caused quite a stir this week when a newspaper in Texas ran a front page article titled, “Court of Public Opinion” (for full article: http://amarillo.com/stories/101105/new_2987936.shtml), which quoted Mercer-Nairne as saying,

"I don't think I have seen such a disconnect between the predominant European view and that of the U.S. administration as exists right now over Iraq.”

And

“Today, it is American and British soldiers fighting and Europeans who at best don't want to know, and at worst think that the Texan cowboy (Bush) and his British lackey (Blair) leading this mighty enterprise have lost their marbles.”

Features editor, Jim Crawford who wrote the article had his phone ringing off the hook this Tuesday with a lot of negative criticism from politicians who had seen the article. A Barnes and Noble where Mercer-Nairne had done a signing that same week was receiving phone calls all day with orders of his newest book about the Iraq war, Like No Other.
