The holidays are approaching and that means gifts.  One of the most popular gifts this holiday season will be mystery books.  Mysteries have seen a revival in popularity this year from movies to television to books.

Mystery books compose 39% of all book sales during the holiday season.  Partly because mysteries seem to fit in with the time ofthe year when it is dark earlier and colder outseide, but why else are mysteries so popular during the holidays?  What has led to this renewed interest in mysteries in America after a long decline?
