How to Find Happiness in 2006

Please let me know if you would like to talk to Jonathan Haidt, author of the 'THE HAPPINESS HYPOTHESIS.'  Jonathan is a professor of psychology at the University of Virginia and can discuss what happiness means and how you can find it. This is a great discussion to start the new year.  Jonathan is available January 4th, 5th and 6th and January 9th through January 13th. Contact if you would like to schedule an interview.

Thanks,

THE HAPPINESS HYPOTHESIS: Finding Modern Truth in Ancient Wisdom - Why the Meaningful Life Is Closer Than You Think (Basic, January 2006) is the first book to join philosophical wisdom and scientific research to answer the Big Question "What is Happiness and how can I get some?"  But, this is no self-help book; this is a book about great ideas.  Each chapter is an
attempt to savor one idea that has been discovered by several of the world's civilizations - to question it scientifically, and to extract from it the lessons that apply to our modern lives.

Haidt explains that we must look to wise people of every era and culture to discover the best advice on how to live well.   Other revelations in THE HAPPINESS HYPOTHESIS:
* How to discover your own strengths, and then craft a life that employs them.
* How to combine the yin and yang of Eastern and Western approaches to living.
* Where the different kinds of love come from, and what kind of love is "true" love.
* Why you need constraints, bonds, and limits to be happy.
* Why the golden rule works, and how to protect yourself from those who use it against you.
* Why most people, other than you, seem to be hypocrites, and how you can escape from self-righteousness and improve your relationships.
* Why some things that don't kill you make you stronger, while other things scar you for life.
